brent community arts project

The Brent Primary Arts Project is an initiative in collaboration with Brent Council and the ViBrent consortium, which is funded by Arts Council England. Fresh Arts is working across four Brent primary schools to deliver weekly workshops based around exploring the cultural backgrounds of students on the project, and helping them to create short plays based on stories, myths and traditions inspired by these cultures. The students will then have the opportunity to perform their work in July 2026 in Wembley Park as part of the wider Brent Arts Festival. Other ViBrent partners such as Mahogany Carnival Arts have also been involved in the project by delivering workshops with the children and donating costumes for the performances.

arts access project

The Access for All Project is in partnership with The Troubadour Trust, and is focussed on making the arts more accessible to young people and their families. The project aims to engage young people in understanding different creative pathways, and has included a Working in Theatre panel with industry leaders, 20 school workshops in Brent reaching over 800 students, orchestral music workshops, holiday programmes, masterclasses in musical theatre, content creation, and audition techniques. The funding has also enabled Fresh Arts to take children to various creative works such as Starlight Express, When Santa Came Down the Chimney, Fireside Tales and Bubble Planet. The project has also enabled us to deliver an exciting Young Producers Programme for three young creatives aged 18-25 to produce their own funded event in our spaces this July.

grenfell arts project

Following the devastating tragedy at Grenfell Tower we responded by creating the Grenfell Arts Project. We worked with 40 primary school children who had been directly affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. We worked in partnership with Colville Primary School and major arts organisations like the Old Vic Theatre and The Globe Theatre. The project provided access to creative activities in a safe, child centred space. Each week we did art, drama and music and children worked with professional artists. Participants took part in theatre trips and participated in a LAMDA exam. Following our evaluation parents reported that their children were happier and more confident. This project was funded by The Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
