Our Classes

Fresh Arts Theatre School have been running classes on Saturdays since 2009. Across all our classes on the weekend, the children have three sessions: Speech & Drama, Singing & Music, and Dance & Movement. At the end of each term, we have an informal parent sharing but during our Spring Term we usually put on a performance choosing a hit musical or a play created by us.
In the Summer term we incorporate LAMDA exams in our drama sessions and in the Autumn, we incorporate LCM musical theatre exams in the singing classes. The exams are not compulsory but it’s a great, fun way to build confidence and get a recognised certification in which the higher grades give UCAS points for university. We also have an Agency for all our children to participate in auditions.

Classes

Our Infants classes are for children between reception and year 2. These classes are especially designed for this age group to build confidence, self esteem and performance skills. The children have lots of fun exploring performing arts and making new friends and are encouraged to express themselves in each lesson. During the classes children learn poems, scripts and songs, do role play and learn dance routines and warm ups.

Our Juniors classes are for children between year 3 and 7. These classes are especially designed for this age group to build confidence and self esteem and performance skills. In the juniors class students begin to develop their performance skills further with professional performers who have trained at specialist drama or music conservatoires.

Our Seniors classes are for students aged 12+. These are fun, professionally based sessions to refine children’s skills and to develop them into well rounded individuals. They cover script work, devising and improvisation; singing warmups, breathing, vocal exercises and learning repertoire from different time periods; dance warmups, musical theatre and street dance routines, toning and drills. We believe that the skills learnt at this age set children up in good stead for all future life choices and not just careers in the arts.

LAMDA Exams

In the Summer Term we prepare children for annual London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) examinations. This preparation is a fantastic way to increase the confidence, speaking skills, expression, and performance skills of children from age four upwards. At Fresh Arts Theatre School we prepare all children for the Speaking of Verse and Prose Syllabus, Acting and Public Speaking. This exposes children to literature and poetry and is a great way to deepen their engagement with text in a fun way.

Key features of the preparation are encouraging students to speak audibly, to speak with expression and in an interesting way, and to share the text that they have learnt in an engaging way with an audience. Students also answer questions in the form of a discussion.

LCM Exams

In the Autumn term we prepare students for annual London College of Music (LCM) Examinations in Music Theatre. These examinations help students to gain confidence in musical performance and singing. There are eight graded LCM Music Theatre Examinations and two introductory levels. We enter students from age four upwards to a level that best suits their ability and age. We have found that preparing for these examinations helps our students to grow in confidence, presentation skills and to improve both their singing and dance skills.

Agency

At Fresh Arts Theatre School we believe that children and young people who wish to pursue a career in the arts should be given the opportunity to audition for professional projects. Any child over 5 years old who attends our classes can join our sister agency, Fresh Talent Group. Children who are signed up to Fresh Talent Group have gained acting work in feature films, theatre, educational films, adverts, and television. Children enjoy going to auditions and find them a fun, confidence building experience.

Our students are taught by professional performers and can be given strong industry and professional guidance. We believe that our students are well equipped to work in the acting industry and our agents support parents and children with all aspects of their auditions.

There is no charge to join the Fresh Talent Group but parents are responsible for costs such as professional headshots and an annual Spotlight Membership which we will arrange to enable us to best represent your child.
