At Fresh Arts Theatre School we prepare children for annual London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) examinations. This preparation is a fantastic way to increase the confidence, speaking skills, expression and performance skills of children from age four upwards. At Fresh Arts Theatre School we prepare all children for the Speaking of Verse and Prose Syllabus. This pathway exposes children to literature and poetry and is a great way to deepen their engagement with text in a fun way.

Key features of the preparation are encouraging students to speak audibly, to speak with expression and in an interesting way, and to share the text that they have learnt in an engaging way with an audience. Students also answer questions in the form of a discussion.

  • LAMDA began offering speech examinations to the public in the 1880s and are the oldest awarding body in the UK.
  • Their examinations are refined and developed to help children to improve their performance skills.
  • Children who do LAMDA examinations gain confidence and a sense of achievement.

The Key Benefits of LAMDA Examinations are:

  • Increased confidence.
  • Fully accredited examination which gains UCAS points.
  • We have found that students that take LAMDA exams are far more confident when speaking in front of an audience and to adults that they don’t know.
  • Lamda exams at the higher levels gain students UCAS points for university and are a well recognised and popular qualification.
  • Schools that engage us to provide LAMDA classes report an increase in confidence and improved spoken English among their students
